AME Group Approval- Edit Document not locking

We have an AME rule and sends notifications to 5 approvers, first responder wins. But the issue we ran into is, when one approver opens edit document and is working on it, the other approvers are also able to do the same. Basically, multiple approvers are able to edit the document at the same time. When one approver is working on a document, we want to lock that PO, so that other approvers can't edit the document. I know with PO's Oracle locks the record but it is not working the same when the edit document is opened from
