EBS R12.2 cloning questions related to middle tier copying, etcc, and adop

Hi,

We are on 12g RAC with EBS R12.2.9 & AD.C.Delta.11 & R12.TXK.C.Delta.11 . We went live in the fall of 2020. I am cloning for the first time, following Note 559518.1. I have a non-prd DEV instance (the last UAT before go-live) in order to practice or resolve issues (for example, I ran pre-clone on db & apps tier there).

1) For the DB tier, looks like I need to adclone.pl modes=stage on the hot SOURCE, and it will create a stage or "image". Is this where the cloning procedure takes the ACTUAL RMAN backup, they just don't use that term? Is this instead of something like using rman DUPLICATE (which I see our company did for R12.1.3)..
