How do cancelled Sales order lines for inventoried goods still have an extended cost?

I am running JDE 9.2. We have about 1000 sales order lines that have been cancelled but the extended cost remained on the order and posted upon sales update.

I am curious how this could happen on some orders but not all. I did notice that for the material that would issue a Purchase order, the related PO was 0000000.

Also, lines discovered with this issue cannot be remedied by using the Zero cost function.
