Availability of Open-Source Userland Components in Solaris 11.4 (e.g. MySQL 8, Java 11)

Dear all,

Oracle has undoubtedly made tremendous progress regarding the availability of modern userland tools (e.g., Apache, PHP, Tomcat, and so on) since the appearance of Solaris 11.4. The rolling release of new versions is great as it makes a system administrator's life much easier: Even running modern web applications (e.g., Moodle, Nextcloud, Guacamole, Mahara, and many more) which typically demand very recent versions of underlying tools) is possible out of the box and without maintaining individual compile chains. At the same time, old versions (like PHP 7.1) are still maintained in order to guarantee compatibility with older applications.

Oracle Solaris people, please keep up this path!

Howdy, Stranger!
