This is for in-place 12cR2 to 19c upgrade (same hardware, to different rdbms home)

can you please tell regardless, of upgrade type needing or NOT needing

if Data vault can be disabled before upgrade & enabled after upgrade?

With no 'harm'?

If so just disable , enable will suffice or few more statements to be executed?


Asking since seeing conflicting needs in docs.

I just want to disable, upgrade & enable. Hence checking if any harm doing that.

Starting with Oracle Database 12c release 2 (12.2), you can upgrade the database without disabling Oracle Database Vault. However, if you disabled Oracle Database Vault, then you must enable it manually after an upgrade.

DBUA, AutoUpgrade, and Oracle Database Vault

If you use Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA) to upgrade Oracle Database 12c Release 2 (12.2), Oracle Database 18c, or Oracle Database 19c, and your system uses Oracle Database Vault, then you must use this upgrade process.
