Upgrading Archived Dataset from 8.12 to 9.2

Hi,

We have a 8.12 instance which is being upgraded to 9.2. The 8.12 instance has a set of 45 tables being archived to a separate schema on the database. And this archived data is being accessed with a separate dedicated 8.12 JDE environment currently.


The requirement is to be able to access this data in 9.2 instance on a separate environment as well. That also means we may have to upgrade the Archived data along with the actual prod data. Is this a normal practice that all customers do and is it recommended to upgrade archive data? What is oracle's recommendation during upgrades for Archived data?
