Xmobile 17.0.3 Network printers for receipts

We are implementing Xmobile for Xstore 17.0.3. We expect to have multiple mobile devices (tablets) and each tablet will have an IP based mobile printer. I've found another thread on the forums that shows how to configure a list of printers to choose from in the HardwarConfig.xml.

The issue I am running in to is we are getting JposExceptions when launching Xmobile on the tablet if any of the printers configured in the list are offline, because a socket cannot be opened to the printer during the hardware startup process.

This is an issue because mobile use would scale with the business of the store so there may be times when there are only a few mobile devices being used or if an associate does not turn the printer on before the tablet, they run in to this issue. Another scenario would be if the printer battery has to be swapped in the middle of the day.
