Can tasks drive activities?

Guys,

I have searched the community register for peoples discussion/ideas. I would like to clarify whether one can have tasks driving the activity dates?

Seems this is NOT possible (also from others questioning the same thing), but also seems so illogical how activities can move or change duration whilst not impact adjoining tasks, and vice versa? I.e. say I have an activity starting today with duration of 15 days… but the task below it takes 10 or 20 days to complete --> the activity should move accordingly….?  And similarly, if the activity was scheduled to start today (with adjoining tasks) but is moved to next week... shouldn't the tasks move too??
