New Association getting added to the Install Base record when a repair order is created

Hi,

We have a scenario where the serialized product is sold to 'customer A' - at this point of time we see the IB record for this unit having the Owner and Sold to as 'customer A'.

Now this unit is submitted for repair by a different customer 'customer B' on behalf of 'customer A' - upon the submission of the repair order we are seeing a new entry in the Install Base association.

The new entry is having the relationship as "Serviced by" and it is having the customer B against it.

Can anyone please explain the process behind this and the setup that is driving this.
