When applying ECC patches we lost some EAM Menus, why?

We applied the ECC patches over the weekend and found that the Maintenance Super User in Enterprise Asset Management on version 12.2.8 and another custom responsibility had missing Menus which we had added ourselves. Usually we do not lose Menus like this but need to understand if applying ECC patches is known to do this or not and is there a way in the future to prevent this from occurring? Thanks.
