Required steps in an Activity guide - how are others handling?

We are having an active enrollment this year and would like to require the teammate to review their name, address, contacts, etc. The only problem is, unless an actual change is made, the requirement doesn't move to completed so you can open the next step. I opened an SR and they agreed, there is currently no way to add a "review/complete" button to move the task forward. They mentioned customization.

Are there any others of you that are working through a solution to this? Would like to hear some options.
