CAFE1 Not Recognizing value on screen

I have a CAFE 1 with P4101 W4101B and P4107 W4107A. In browse mode it works great.

In item creation mode, when the user enters the Category Code screen, the P4107 portion says "Item Number Invalid". Since P4107 is tied to the Short Item on the Category Code screen and that is populated and enabled, I'm not sure why this is happening? I did have to make the ITM visible and enabled on the category code screen in order to make this work.

The goal is for the user to populate item features when they are populating the category codes during item creation.
