changing a carrier on a past due order changes the ship date? JDE 9.2 tools 9.2

We have past due lines. We use 4915 transportation to change routing options and when we do this on an order with a past due shipment, it changes the ship date to today.

We do not want that date to change. is there a way to control this to stop it from happening?
