Is there a way to copy a BP record but reset specific Date Elements?

Use Case:

We have DEs that are auto-populated on the Create form from another BP. When a user copies an old record, it also copies the previous value of that specific DE instead of autopopulating it from another BP.

We also have a checkbox that is checked once a record is Approved/Terminated. If they copy that record, that checkbox value is copied too, and we want it to be set back to uncheck once the record is copied.
