RMA - Reset the approval cycle for an RMA request

Dears,

I have the following issue and need to reset the approval cycle for an RMA request:

When an approving employee resigns while the request is in the 'In Process' state, the request is stacked and never continues its cycle and the only solution is to cancel it and re-create a new RMA request.

So, I need a solution for the approval cycle to continue or reset automatically. 

Can anyone help me with my issue?
