Oracle database was shut down last night. How can I investigate this?

I'm a low experienced DBA currently filling the role of a Senior who passed away. Our database randomly shut down last night, I've started it back up but I need to understand why this happened. We are running version 12.1.0.2.

Can anyone please let me know what to look through? Any sqlplus or bash commands I can run?
