Snapshot copy PDB using ACFS with an EMC XtremeIO storage array

The Multitenant Admin guide documents a feature called a Snapshot Copy PDB. It explains that if the storage supports storage-manage snapshots, then the snapshot copy PDB will contain sparse files. This copy-on-write technology is common to most storage-managed snapshot platforms.

MOSC Doc ID 1597027.1 states that the snapshot copy feature is supported on ACFS, ZFSSA, and NetApp as of 12.2.0.1. We are running Oracle 19c using non-CDB databases.

My company uses an EMC Xtreme IO storage array that supports storage-managed snapshots. ASM supports EMC Xtreme IO storage, but I'm not sure if ACFS is supported as well.

We use the storage-managed snapshot features very heavily at my company, and this snapshot copy PDB sounds really useful. If I could use this with ACFS in a CDB, I would move away from the non-CDB architecture we currently use. Until now, I didn't see a pressing need for containers.

Howdy, Stranger!
