volume handling capability of Agile PLM webservice extensions

We are designing an interface where agile PLM hosts a custom webservice which will be consumed by another application. This source application can send 1000s of messages together simultaneously during some events which can create multiple threads executing the agile plm webservice. Can these huge messages load the agile server and potentially bring server down? want to understand how much load can a agile webservice handle?
