Moving Items from Legacy Systems into Oracle

We have 2 business units say A and B. A is more of manufacturing and uses Oracle fully. B is the service organization and is a MRO type (Maintenance repairs operations) and uses legacy systems. Planning to move the SCM components (items, purchasing) from legacy into Oracle. Can you suggest some best practices for migration?
