Modify a single BoM: is ECO worth using?

I was looking for a best practice (if any) to adopt in case the BOM of a single parent is evolving.
The only way I could imagine is to manually modify the BoM as desired without ECO, then run an ECO to only update the revision level.

Using Change/Swap/Remove Component for all modified lines and specifying for each the same unique parent seems very cumbersome.
