Issue of adding dependent partners to plans ever resolved? Original Doc ID 1318616.1

Was the issue of employees being able to add their domestic partners to their Life and AD&D benefits ever resolved? I see there were some posts and a DOC created in 2012/2013, but I would like to know if the issue was resolved and possibly the document/bug was not updated? 
I saw one workaround was to use Elig Config Field 3 to track DP, but we use that field for something else. If anyone has any updates or additional information they could share, it would be much appreciated.
