Composite Pages with Custom Image

Hello,

We are using tools release 9.2.5.2.
We have started creating various composite pages and we are including custom images.

Our images are shared via P98220U.

Pages with several objects with custom images have an extremely long load time. Since the option is available (custom image) when creating composite pages, I assume there shouldn't be an issue with load time. 

Is there somewhere else we should be storing custom images or a setting that affects load time?
