Need Help with Notifications for Oracle HCM Benefits

Traditionally we have been creating BI Reports and using bursting to deliver the different notifications on oracle hcm benefits like life event window open, window close reminder, enrollment confirmation etc. 

There are seeded alerts available for now. Do we have any documentation around this?

Also, are there any associated challenges for alerts and can they be recommended over custom BI Reports? To what extend can the associated message templates for alerts be customized.

Please provide our inputs.
