Customer Interface Errors

I am getting an a1 error (Customer record for insert must have validated profile record defined in the RA_CUSTOMER_PROFILES_INTERFACE table.)  when I run the Customer Interface and can't figure out why.  The MOS Doc ID 566779.1 says it is due to the ORIG_SYSTEM_CUSTOMER_REF field being null, however I do have a value in that field in both the ra_customers_interface_all table and the ra_customer_profiles_int_all table.  It also says, "If the value is used incorrectly, then the field needs to be populated with the correct value".  I'm not sure what that means.  What is the correct value?  Can anyone help with this?  Both interface tables are populated with the mandatory fields, including the org_id.
