ACSLS and STK SL4000 support with IBM Spectrum Protect
Hi everyone,
We currently have a pair of STK SL3000 tape libraries managed by ACSLS, with an IBM Spectrum Protect library manager. We're planning on upgrading to the SL4000 soon, and I'm trying to make sense of IBM's support of it. They have a device support matrix here:
The SL3000 is listed in both the LTO and ACSLS sections, and can be supported both with ACSLS and IBM's lb driver which uses FC/SCSI. The SL4000 is listed *only* in the LTO section (not the ACSLS) section - is this an oversight on IBM's part? With the SL3000s, SP only sees generic "ACSLS" libraries (each with its own ACS IDs), and drives that likewise have their own ACS IDs. My instincts say that SP is unlikely even to know that the underlying hardware has changed, but I'm curious to know whether anyone has actually managed to get the SL4000s
