Make-to-order: How to simulate costs for a quote?

Hi,

Client is in a make-to-order environment, where they manufacture one-off customer-specific items. Only 10% of quotes are converted to orders so it does not make sense to set up new items, BOMs and routings just to quote. To calculate a quote, the idea is to create a dummy work order that does not commit stock and does not book manufacturing accounting entries. They would use an existing item, modify the parts list and routing and then simulate the costs of producing the item with the changed values. Is this possible?

Thanks.
