Merge 2 SSN - process updating QTD and YTD balances?

There are times that an employee is rehired and the hiring manager will accidentally key the SSN one digit off when completing the hire. This causes the employee to be in the system under two different EMPLIDs. There are times that this is not discovered until significant time has passed. These two records must be merged for legal and W2 purposes. Usually, the incorrect record (EMPLID) is deleted after the earnings have been merged into the correct record to prevent reuse of the incorrect record. Currently, our payroll team is manually reversing each week and reentering it into the correct
