Composed Page - Designer Pane - Setting up an Application

We are on JDE 9.2.4.3.  When setting up a composed page, to set up an application we think we have to use the task option in setting up the button for an application.  But I'd like to set up an application using the application option.  It gives a lot of flexibility, and it's a lot easier.  However, if I select application and put in all the versions/forms/etc, when you try to open it it just spins.  If you find the task ID from the menu it is on and create the button based on the task it opens just fine.
