Data Transformation in GoldenGate using DB Protegrity Functions

We need to enable real time replication from on-prem database to AWS RDS instance considering a business need. The on-prem Exadata database is holding PHI/PII data which needs to be encrypted while to be maintained on AWS and the users should be able to decrypt the data when they retrieve it for reporting or any other purpose. The replication solution is implemented with GoldenGate, but is struggling to find a solution for the PII data encryption during replication and decryption later. Data architect suggested use of Protegrity functions for data masking, would like to know how to use it along
