item number in configurator is displayed with a suffix (2)

in Configurator - EBS (MOSC) Question

Hi,

A sub-assembly that is connected in the BOM twice (one branch is end dated and the second is effective) appears with (2) as a suffix when opening the configurator from order management.

why is that ? if only one branch is effective ?

we try to create the configuration via java API and it is failing because we send the item itself (NICE-WFM-ADV-MODEL) rather than "NICE-WFM-ADV-MODEL (2)".

How can we avoid this situation that system is expecting NICE-WFM-ADV-MODEL (2) instead of NICE-WFM-ADV-MODEL.
