ODA 19.12 requires database homes to be ACFS

We have all our databases in ASM on 19.10. We are upgrading to 19.12. The patch notes say that to update the databases to 19.12 they have to be on ACFS. How mandatory is that?

If you have migrated ODA databases from ASM to ACFS, how difficult is it?

Can we leave the databases at 19.10.0.0.210119 as ASM storage and still upgrade the ODA to 19.12?
