Spacewalk Slave Sync Fails on Specific Channel

satellite-sync does not download files from specific channel. other channels ok. "rhn_server_satellite.log" shows "ERROR: server.dump.packages ... timed out". Multiple rhn-package-###### files show up. when i look for those files in /var/cache/rhnc/xml-packages on the master, they can't be found. already attempted the time out options settings on the parent http settings w/out success. mail spacewalk database maintenance options tried on the master and slave.

cannot find a solution to this anywhere. any ideas would be helpful.
