Is it recommended to upgrade Essbase PSU level in EPM 11.2.6 or 11.2.7 to the latest 11.1.2.4 PSU

In 11.2.6 the essbase version installed by the installtool is 11.1.2.4.040 including EAS .040 and APS. Is it supported and recommended to update to latest PSU of essbase related products, e.g. 11.1.2.4.045 patches? will the opatch method be safe to run?

I'm asking in view of the fact that when installing the EAS console and Essbase client of the files provided with 11.2.6 installation, things go wrong and you have to do repair work. It brings in parts of the old JRE160, overwrites setJavaRuntime so that configtool, validate, epmregistry command etc malfunction as the Java Home env settings then have to be repaired if you happen to have a backup copy of the right files, Java6 then needs to be uninstalled and cleaned off, as the IT will flag the vulnerability.
