Changing LOD on existing accounts

Hello all

Is there a way to change the LOD on existing accounts without having to do it manually. Some accounts were set up with the incorrect LOD and I tried using the copy accounts to Business units function but it wont create or update as it says the account already exists. Please tell me there is a system way as they are a lot across many companies and BU's
