Back-dated employment status change affected life event in Advanced Benefits

Recently we had a store manager using Manager Self Service back-date an employee's employment status from part time to full time by nearly 5 months. The issue we have is that would have made them eligible for benefits on Sept 1 which is in the past. We found this because we are now in Open Enrollment. Is there a way within the MSS workflow to prevent this from happening in the future.
