Can Materialized View work on 12c target database using database link to 19c source database?

We have a setup with a vendor to refresh MVs to duplicate part of their data while we are both on 12c database. Now they are upgrading their database to 12c, we are trying to figure out if our current setting still works without having to upgrade our local database accordingly?
