How to integrate AME with a custom workflow

Hi

Im new to oracle workflows. We have developed a custom data entry screen to capture data. depending on the type of data each record should go on a different approval path.

eg: type A needs supervisor approval, type B needs head of division and finance approval.

1.What is the best way of doing this?

2.Is it possible to integrate AME with a custom workflow? If so how to do it? Any documentation or samples on how to achieve my requirement is highly appreciated
