Oracle's (12.2.0.1.0) internal statistics collection issue

Hi all,

Can I restrict our Oracle's (12.2.0.1.0) internal statistics collection process to collect stats only for the STALE stats?

During weekend, the internal stats run for 22hrs on SAT and on SUN respectively. As our database is quite busy during the weekday, we can collect stats only for 4 hour period at night. The database perform well on Monday and Tuesday. I am guessing this is because it does complete stats collection during the weekends.

But from Wednesday onwards the performance of the DB degrades. This seems to be because the internal stats collection process collects for all the partitions/sub-partitions since 2018 for which we have made no changes during the week/months/years. Hence it does not have enough time to cover the important ones during the four hour window.
