Is there a way to prevent uploads of duplicate documents in WebCenter Enterprise Capture client?

Is there a way to prevent users from uploading duplicate documents in WebCenter Enterprise Capture client? If a user tries to upload a document with the same metadata information can the application be configured to throw an error letting the user know that a document with that e.g. Plan Number already exists?

The Current setup is users upload documents to WebCenter content using the enterprise capture client.
