Releasing planned orders from MRP WB without initiating Req Import

Is it possible to Release planned orders from MRP Planner's Workbench but delay the execution of Requisition Import process?

Context: We are using Master Scheduling / MRP and (NOT ASCP).

We would like to intercept Requisitions in the PO_REQUISTION_INTERFACE table, update the Deliver-to Location of some records in the interface table and perhaps some dates as well, run the Requisition Import, then run a more user-friendly (custom) report to identify any requisition import errors. In order to do this, we would like to suppress the running of the Req Import each time the user clicks the "Release" button and instead run Requisition Import as a scheduled process and part of a request set to include the above.
