Is there a way to set Oracle to use Smart Card/ PKI to access?

I have been tasked with setting our Oracle database to use smart card/ PKI to access instead of passwords. I have found info on using Active Directory, but it all still seems to require a password. It is a requirement hat we eliminate username/ passwords for access.
