SmartScript attributes "Estimated duration" and "Duration In Units"

Hello,

Are the Smartscript attributes "Estimated duration" and "Duration In Units" used as references for the script or do they manage the scripts and keep the record active while user works through the questions. I'm asking because we have many users lose their answers after answering the questions. We have set attribute [Save Session] = "Finished/Timeout Save" when a user is timeout of the system the data should be saved. Thank you.
