Line Increment / Backorder Release

We are using the backorder release batch program (R42118) in a JIT environment and are therefore running the backorder release via the E1 Scheduler every 30 mins. Currently the release process splits partial releases at the 0.1 increment. We would like the option to change this to 0.001. I have read E1: 42: Split Sales Order and Line Number Assignment (Doc ID 1430995.1) and wondered if there is a safe change that can be made to achieve this without it being considered a customisation.

We are currently on JDE E1 / Tools 9.2.5.4
