Oracle Forms Standalone Launcher (FSAL) - Using shared frmsal.jar

in Oracle Forms (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered ✓

“Oracle Forms Standalone Launcher (FSAL)” located https://www.oracle.com/a/tech/docs/fsal-usage-12214.pdf says:

“The configuration requires that a small JAR file (frmsal.jar) be stored on the end-user machine. This file/utility can be transferred to the end-user machine using any desirable method (e.g. web download, email, ftp, etc). The utility can be stored anywhere on the user’s machine as long the user has access to that directory and utility. Storing it in the user’s home directory is recommended, but not required.”

The document specifically says that frmsal.jar be stored on the end-user machine. We would prefer using a shared frmsal.jar. I did some testing with a shared frmsal.jar on a network drive, and it seems to run fine. Is there something against using a shared frmsal.jar? What are the risks?

Howdy, Stranger!
