QR code generation using XML Publisher

From the below oracle support metalink note, EBS doesn't have the capability to generate and process QR code using XML Publisher.

E-Business Suite : Does EBS Have Any Method to Embed QR (Quick Response) Codes within a Report ( Doc ID 1636038.1 )

Is there any alternate option other then going to third parties like ID Automation for this functionality? If there is no option, then can you provide the steps in implementing this functionality using third party tools or libraries?
