Item Catalog Group

Hi

I have few questions regarding the item catalog concept as used in EBS ver 12.2

  1. What is the use of relating one item catalog group to a parent catalog group. I cannot find any functionality added when linking a catalog group to a parent one
  2. What is the use of assigning recommended categories to catalog group? Where does this reflect. I cannot also find how does this affect any functionality
