How to add and make MessageText input item required on OAF page using personalization?

Hi,

I am trying to add and make MessageText input item required on OAF page using OAF personalization,and I can see it is showing up on the page with required(asterisk symbol),but it is not giving any error message if user does not enter any value in it and was able to navigate to next page without entering value. Can anyone please let me know if there any way make it workable using personalization?
