Weblogic datasources auto-switch to Gridlink

Hi, I am using Oracle WebLogic 12.2.1.4

I have a handful of JDBC datasources that are GENERIC. When I check the box "Fan Enabled" and save/activate, I can see that the datasource switches from GENERIC to Gridlink/AGL (gridlink in the table summary view, AGL when I click an individual datasource).

This is all great, except there are two datasources that do not exhibit this behavior. I check the Fan Enabled box and save/activate and they stay GENERIC.

I've compared their configurations to the other datasources and they all look the same. I am completely baffled as to why 6 out of the 8 datasources will switch and these 2 won't. Any ideas?
