Question on rman backups

Dear Experts,

We are on 12.1.0.2.0

I have a general question...We have L0,L1 and all archive logs required to restore the database to a new server.

If there is any structural change between L0 backup and L1 backup, and if i loose L1 control file backup. Will we be able to restore/recover using L0 control file with all available archive logs?

Is L1 control file mandatory?

Please suggest.
