Dual UOM Activation in live environment

Is it possible to activate dual UOM processing for items with transactions & quantity balances in an existing B/P? Are there repercussions in reconciliation reports with the G/L?

If possible, would a cycle count be the method to update the quantities in both primary and secondary?

These are currently manufactured items with primary UOM in LB & secondary of PP with a current conversion of 1 LB = 1 PP. We would need to update the secondary UOM to be RL or EA prior to activating dual UOM. Are there any repercussions to this?
